Google Launches Offline Versions of Gmail, Calendar & Docs

Google is launching a new Gmail web app and updates to Calendar and Docs, in an effort to increase its products’ offline utility.

Google users have called bringing Gmail, Calendar and Docs offline an essential step for improving productivity, Group Product Manager Rajen Sheth told Mashable. The problem, he explained, is that when users need offline access to their email or calendar, they really need it.

To that end, Google is launching a new Chrome app called Gmail Offline. Separate from Gmail itself, the new app is designed for accessing, managing and sending email while you’re disconnected from the web. “We can build on top of a lot of HTML5 standards, which gives us the capabilities to make it work offline,” Sheth said.
The HTML5 app looks and feels a lot like the Gmail app for tablets. That’s because Gmail Offline is based off the tablet version, which was designed to function with or without Internet access. It focuses on the key features users need to access while offline, including organizing, starring, labeling, archiving and responding to email. It won’t give you access to Gmail Labs features, but it will get the job done.

In addition to the Gmail Offline app, Google is rolling out the ability to access Calendar and Docs offline. The feature, available by clicking the gear icon at the top of the page, lets you view events and RSVP to appointments in Calendar and view documents in Docs. Offline document editing isn’t available yet, but Google promises to find a way to make it work. Part of the problem is finding a way to make sure document edits made offline don’t override edits made by online collaborators. ( )

The apps are only available through the Chrome Web Store at the moment. If you try to use the Calendar or Docs offline features, you will be prompted to first install Chrome. Google says that it intends to roll out its offline apps to other browsers once they support the functionality.

Lets Discuss about Twitter : The Most Popular Micro Blogging Site

What is Twitter , Twitter Icon

What is Twitter ?

Twitter is one of the most popular micro-blogging systems online. The twitter trend used effectively will lead to better page traffic and increase blog visitors with the help of tweets. You can learn how to do this professionally to optimize the results. This guide is aimed at helping you gain more twitter fans by getting more people to hit your links posted on twitter and hopefully will help to show you ways to earn affiliate commissions.

What Is MicroBlogging?

Wikipedia defines microblogging as a form of multimedia blogging that allows users to send brief text updates or micromedia such as photos or audio clips and publish them, either to be viewed by all, or by a restricted group, chosen by the user. These messages can be submitted by a variety of means including text messaging, instant messaging, e-mail, digital audio or the web.

MicroBlogging is a great way to update a group of followers on a certain topic or niche. It is not difficult to use Twitter to attract more traffic and visitors to business websites. Following are the basics on using Twitter effectively.

Attract Targeted Followers On Twitter

To gain traffic, you need to build a list of targeted followers. To achieve this rightly, you need to understand that it is not about a number of people following, it is about posting targeted tweets to drive traffic. You need to actively participate in posting targeted tweets related to a topic or forte that you are involved with. You should aim at people looking for you first and follow them back, building a relationship with the followers.

If travel is your domain, just posting tweets on ‘travel tips’ might result in twitter followership faster. However, just posting tweets is not enough, you will need to assist and link back to others as an extension of your posts, find out the next topic that your twitter followership demands by interaction and attention.

Driving Traffic Using Twitter

Achieving a high twitter followership is a good way to drive potential buyers and traffic to your online business. You can also use the Twitter Search tool to locate people to follow, to market your idea or product and to research the traffic trends in terms of conversion. One of the methods to drive people to your site is by linking to affiliate products and programs using tweets, or to your blog and simultaneously drive traffic to your prime business website. Make sure to post on popular topics and related business services and products to better gain other tweets and end up increasing web traffic toward your website.

Sharing useful topics and information will also establish you as an authority. If your posts are well written, people will be impressed with the information you provide, increasing the chances of more people visiting your website. Buyers reviewing your feedback will lead them to your guides and reviews, raising their level of confidence in you as a reseller.

Twitter is a happening social networking website that carries the potential to help small and big businesses with online marketing campaigns and sales promotions. Remember, it is a microblogging tool where users can share fast snippets of information. Promotion on Twitter needs to retain simplicity, grow a following, optimize your exposure and not be targeted as a hard selling tool. ( Source : )

Google Realtime Search Returning With Google+

In early July, Google discontinued its Realtime search feature. The company recently confirmed, however, that they will be using Google+ data to bring the feature back – along with an internal search for Google+.

Realtime Search and Google+

Google's specialized Realtime search engine allowed users to get information from social networks, and most notably Twitter, as soon as it happened. Realtime also imported a stream of data for standard searches related to major world events, ranging from the Royal Wedding to Osama Bin Laden's death. It looked like this:
Realtime was shut down in July because Twitter and Google couldn't come to agreeable terms for the re-upping of their contract. Google indicated that they were interested in continuing both their relationship with Twitter and their Realtime search services, although Google+ was a likely candidate for a new data stream.
Plans were confirmed in a search panel in Mountain View, California, where Amit Singhal, Google Fellow, responded to questions about the fate of Realtime search. Singhal indicated that the company was in the process of bringing the service back and integrating Google+ data into the stream. Other social services are also intended as a part of the "new" realtime search, although exact details haven't been released.
Alongside this effort, Google is working on an internal search for Google+ that lets users search through the stream for interesting public posts. This feature has been in demand since Plus's launch, and Singhal has indicated that "we [Google] are on it."

Since the new Realtime search is expected to be bumped to the front page, much like Places or image data, this works as a way for Google to cross-promote its content. It also falls into the same category as the antitrust concerns currently being reviewed in both the U.S. and Europe, which are focused on whether Google is unfairly favoring its own sites and services.

Will Google realtime even matter without Twitter? As Marketing Pilgrim noted, "even once (if) Google+ becomes heavily trafficked, it’s likely that the postings will resemble those you find on Facebook. Google already admitted, that Facebook wasn’t very effective as a real-time news source, so how is Google+ going to be any better?"  ( )

Gmail Phone Calling: Now Cheaper and in 38 Languages

Google has expanded the scope of Gmail’s phone calling feature, reducing the cost of international phone calls and making the feature available in 38 languages.

The product, which is powered by Google Voice, will be rolling out across the world in the next few days. A green phone icon will appear in a user’s Gmail account once the voice calling feature is available in his or her country. The search giant introduced voice calling in Gmail last August.

In addition to the international rollout, phone calls will be getting cheaper for calls to more than 150 locations around the world. “For example, it’s now only $0.10 (or €0.08) per minute to call mobile phones in the U.K., France or Germany (landlines are $0.02/min), $0.15/minute to call mobile phones in Mexico and $0.02/min to call any phone number in China and India,” Google product manager Pierre Lebeau explained in a blog post.

For those of you who use Gmail phone calling to call your friends or colleagues in the U.S., you don’t have to worry; phone calls within the U.S. and Canada will remain free until the end of 2011. ( )
